Annexe – Art Gallery of Ballarat

This project extends the simple ‘events marquee’ brief by delivering a dramatic and clever hybrid of public hall, verandah and bandstand. The modulated ceiling is a showcase of painted timber linings that makes for a grand statement. Coupled with operable glazed panels that open or close the facade as needed, this event space is highly adaptable. Natural light filters through skylights so the ceiling’s geometrics are never overwhelming and the overall design exudes a clarity of vision.
