Linear House

A double-storey concrete block is encased in operable screens of spotted gum. The screens offer shelter from the sun, while allowing natural light into the interior. The different tones of the timber battens evoke a feeling of warmth in the interior that contrasts the toughness of the Australian landscape. The ship-lap cladding flows from the outer skin, wrapping onto the interior walls and ceiling. The gloss finish of the floor reflects the sky, bringing the exterior into the interior.
