Layered minimalist principles are combined with warm, textured natural materials in this open-plan office, inspired by the Japanese origins of this client. Sound absorbing panels and acoustic tiles address the acoustic difficulties of the space, with timber veneer column and beam extrusions breaking up the minimalist shell. Timber fins face-fixed to the glazed interior walls of the meeting rooms enable privacy. Metallic themes pay homage to Sumitomo’s major product: high-grade steel.
