ESD initiatives include: zero net energy use, 7+ stars on NatHERS. Achieving more than stars, the design incorporates 48 DC solar panels, 12.5kw (mains power only used to top up on rare occasions), a 4000-litre sand filtered worm farm that irrigates all land to south of building with its effluent field, water tanks and the reuse of excavated soil.
