Planet: Under Construction

Created for Vivid Sydney 2013, sculptural lighting installation, Planet Under Construction (PUC), adopted the humble orange construction cone as its starting point. Symbolic of the design process instead of a finished outcome, 200 traffic cones were strapped to a simple steel structure using a bungee cord, materialising in a dynamic skin on the orb-like form. 
The cones can be paralleled to the way the sun’s constant chemical reactions nurse the life processes on earth.
