Stepped House

Set on a sloping site facing the Yarra River Parklands in Ivanhoe, Stepped House’s current design resolves the plaguing issue of a lack of space. Preserving original eaves, timber panelling and rough blockwork, the project respectfully reconfigures layout to create rooms that are more efficient, generous in proportion and conducive to modern living. Integral to the resolution, a deep beam acts as a curtain pelmet at the core of the extension, and lighting track defines the edge.
