Queensland University of Technology, H Block

With a design inspired by ‘The Secret Garden’, the H Block building aims to provide a sanctuary for the postgraduate research students who study there. Aiming to optimise multi-functionality and flexibility, the space includes workstations that can be configured by each user, a large studio space for group work, meeting rooms, offices and a kitchenette. As one of the four original engineering buildings at what was formerly called Brisbane Technical College, the structure has significant heritage value, and the design seeks to both preserve and integrate these elements.
