River Studios

A vacant warehouse is transformed in a process of strategic re-habitation, shaping an untouched concrete shell into artist studios at ultimate affordability ($100/sqm). Over three levels and 3000sqm, 70 multi-use studios are strung between informal kitchenette, service spaces and bicycle parking. Cyclone wire fencing and timber framing are used with donated and salvaged materials. Without preciousness towards finishes and form, the need for refined solutions is replaced by a strategy of growth, flexibility and reuse.
