Songlines

The temporary installation celebrates the Conservatorium of Music’s Open Day 2009. The sculpture consists of three aeolian harps located on an important indigenous site, which evokes the concept of ‘songlines’, heard for a moment by the passersby. The symbolic instrument is played by a higher power, the wind. Situated near several major roads, the installation visually connects hundreds of thousands of people, who also ‘see’ the wind through 7000 fluttering recyclable polypropylene tiles coloured in the hues of the Australian desert.
