The Australian Centre for Contemporary Art’s annual NEW exhibition for 2010 was prompted by Nexus Designs’ proposal for an exhibition that explored collaboration and synergy between the arts, design and architecture. As official Collaborating Design Partner, Nexus Designs’ extensive role embraced exhibition design, branding, event coordination, project management and sponsorship procurement. The gallery’s interior was viewed as a complex spatial narrative, with parameters and ‘instructions’ articulated for each of the seven installations; at various points, the audience was urged to crouch down, shuffle through, gaze upward and crawl.
