The Pool: Architecture, Culture and Identity in Australia

Located within the new permanent Australian Pavilion in Venice, The Pool was a direct response to the space’s strict rectilinear geometry. Abstractly evoking a variety of pool environments through sensory triggers of light, sound and scent, it encouraged visitors to engage directly with the space, from reading at the edge to dangling their feet or plunging in.
