Techne Architects, Prahran Hotel

Large stacked concrete pipes emblazon the street facade of this inner urban hotel’s rear addition. Their sculptural quality makes a fitting complement to the venue’s streamlined art deco frontage. Internally, the pipes reference existing circular motifs and are visually suggestive of stacked kegs or barrels.   The dramatic double-height space features a steel and glazed central courtyard, which cuts through the interior, connecting and endowing both levels with natural light.
