Narbethong Community Hall

BVN Architecture

The thoughtfully designed interior of this hall, rebuilt following its destruction in the Black Saturday fires of 2007, echoes the building’s natural surrounds. Constructed primarily of timber, curved screens provide privacy for smaller gatherings, while the timber floor and ceiling create a warm, intimate scale. The use of a single material palette has been undertaken with sensitivity and the resulting design is clearly articulated. A single, simple design motif has succeeded in providing a visually appealing and functionally inviting meeting place for the community it serves.
