Harbour Rocks Hotel

Built in 1887, this stunning structure was originally a bond store and the six adjoining terraces workmen’s cottages, before becoming a hotel in 1989. Today, newly refurbished, Sydney’s Harbour Rocks Hotel and Scarlett Restaurant expose the original sandstone and 125 year old brick, complemented by clean lines and modern materials. The lighting, including a bespoke wax chandelier, glows like candlelight – a reference to the building’s colonial inception. This project demonstrates the possibility of redesigning heritage-protected sites with breathtaking results.
