George

Inspired by its site and the established plane tree boulevard along North Melbourne’s Flemington Road, perforated mesh screens on the side of the George building emulate the dappled light created by plane trees. Sunlight filters in and moves across the apartment walls during the day, making the use of light central to the success of HASSELL’s considered design. The internal colour palette is neutral, so as not to compete with the outside views, and the design is inherently urban.
