Queenscliff Residence

John Wardle Architects

This house operates as an optical instrument, framing views towards the heads of Port Phillip Bay. The main promenade runs from the street through the entry and to the uppermost level – a sequence amplified by materiality and adjacencies. Materials include fine timber detailing alongside the path, woven wicker within the stair and Calcutta marble in the kitchen. A courtyard reconciles southern views with the need for northern orientation in the communal family areas.
