Mister Close

Named after the owners’ former Geography teacher, the identity of this café features the striking black moustache and dark rimmed glasses of Mister Close. Folded timber ceiling baffles are hinged accordion-like, concealing the kitchen canopy and giving the fitout a strong street presence. Custom-made furniture is a study in geometry. Small circular tables and stools look like they will topple over, while larger tables and benches appear sturdy and robust from one angle, yet impossibly thin from another.
