Centre for Neural Engineering, University of Melbourne

This new integrated centre for research includes new laboratories, psychophysics booths, an electronic workshop, collaborative meeting spaces, conference and office accommodation for up to 70 researchers. The project showcases the integration of the research facilities. Two existing buildings are stripped to form a deep, uninterrupted floor plan. Elongated entry steps lead up to a bluestone pedestal. A three-dimensional translation of the spike trains used in the analysis of neuron code features on the ceiling.
