Bayside Police Station

Moving away from existing paradigms of the contemporary police station, fenced compounds characterised by opacity and security, this is a truly public community building. Part of the civic fabric, the building is open and accessible, yet also meets necessary security requirements. Public areas address the street and are open to natural light. Work spaces, meeting rooms, holding rooms and gymnasium are gathered around a central top-lit atrium, lined with timber. Materials include terracotta tiles, Victorian Ash panels and off-form concrete.
