Woollahra House

This postwar semi-detached dwelling, with classical proportions, was the perfect backdrop for an elegant and sophisticated approach, reminiscent of the 20th century designer William Haines. 
The client sought a formal look from what was essentially an informal layout (kitchen, lounge and dining in an open space arrangement). We turned a standard wall and island kitchen into a detailed furniture piece, making it a central point of focus along with the architectural detailing. Stark contrast of black and white, reminiscent of 1930s film and photography is mimicked in the use of contrasting colours throughout the design.
