Westwyck Unit 4

Unit 4 was a former primary school hall subsequently converted (the process of which is ongoing) into a green eco-village called Westwyck. Previous architects had designed the project and structural works had commenced when Multiplicity became involved. Constraints on their attempts to inject their own response into the space were therefore dual – the original building fabric as well as the new construction works. The core themes of the overlaid approach were the use of raw, environmentally responsive materials, closable zones to buffer the space and effective insulation.
