South Yarra House

The South Yarra house locates and cantilevers the primary living areas on the first floor (to capture distant views and natural light), tucks the bedroom zones underneath and houses up to nine cars and supplementary spaces, such as a gym, in the basement. Fluid spaces and forms, some spanning over three levels, have been explored, and though entry into the house initially appears predictable, movement through the interior reveals moments of surprise and discovery. The house is certainly container-like in parts but still maintains clear connections to the exterior.
