The principally transparent addition acts as an open verandah space that bridges the gap between the existing Victorian bluestone villa and the garden. The narrow frameless band of glass linking old and new highlights the original red brick wall of the villa⎯a counterpoint to the reserved detailing of the addition. A natural palette of materials equate the warmth and scale of the pavilion to the existing villa. Sandstone walls, timber joinery, exposed brickwork and bluestone flooring create a richness of texture in the contemporary interior.
