Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC)

The Centre is the first in the world to achieve a 6 Star Green Star rating. An air displacement wall in the foyer doubling as a significant design feature exemplifies the innovative ESD design initiatives driving the interior. State-of-the-art technology allows the division of the 5,600-seat Plenary Hall into three smaller halls. The dynamic enclosure is reinforced by its independence from the outer skin of the building. The timber-clad sculptural shapes of the walls reflect the Yarra River’s maritime history, while other surface designs too reflect the Melbourne surrounds.
