Mallet Street Café and Entry

The brief for the new café and the overlapping entry lobby’s renovation prescribed a moody café, but a bright and fresh lobby. By playing with perception and using similar materials in opposing ways, the two spaces are at harmony yet still retain distinct identities. The result is a snappy white lobby intersected by a moody, cellar-like room. The comfortable kitchen feel of the café makes use of materials that evoke the building’s warehouse heritage: black and white marble, stainless steel, dark timber, brick, tile, blackboard and chalk.
