Lyon Housemuseum

This project speculates on the conjunction of art and living and on notions of public and private through a new hybridized building type – a ‘housemuseum’. Two double-height spaces – a ‘white cube’ and a ‘black box’ – anchor the ends of the building and are expressed as public museum spaces. Private spaces for the family are defined within enclosed box-like forms. Further spaces used by both family and public visitors flow around and between, interweaving the display of art and domestic settings. For example, the family kitchen also functions as the museum café.
