Bluebottle

John Olsen’s painting ‘Popping Bluebottles’ inspired the Bluebottle bar and restaurant, which is a natural extension of the foyer of the Olsen hotel, named after the same painter. The voluminous double-height space is dominated by the backlit oval-shaped main bar and the translucent curtain shroud suspended over it. Olsen’s evocative images of cooking, food and fish are projected onto this wavy screen. The ‘lobster pot’ striking cane, metal lights and exposed dark blue ceiling partially draped in fishnet also reference Olsen and underwater imagery.
