Westpac prides itself on its history, as the first bank in Australia, while also embracing the rapid changes of the modern era. Geyer steered Westpac toward a functional, contemporary design solution that is faithful to the building’s heritage, harmoniously showcasing two ends of the design spectrum. This solution exhibits inferences of both the old and the new, evoking a sense of fun and curiosity for the users. For example, the pendant light fittings are made from a material associated with the old, polished copper, but take a simple modern form.
