Toomba Avenue House - IDEA 2023

Toomba Avenue House

James Russell Architect

What is the ‘big (IDEA)’ behind this project?
This project is inspired by the clients’ passion for connecting with their site and surrounding neighbourhood. The entrance was repositioned to bring people between old and new, into the public domain – courtyard. The semi-public zones of kitchen, living, dining and family surround this space. Movement from the yard on the street to the more intimate and private backyard transitions with slatted screening. The Toomba Avenue House demonstrates that spaces can create meaningful sequences while providing the opportunity to gather and experience the outdoors.
