What is the ‘big (IDEA)’ behind this project?
The Storrier Hotel project was inspired by colour combinations and tones found in the Burning Rope series of artwork by Australian artist Tim Storrier. Positioned in the middle of Sydney’s gritty Kings Cross precinct in a street with a distinct European feel, the Hotel required a touch of world-class glam. This was achieved by combining the influences from a blue chip Australian artist, the art deco period of the existing building and the European setting. Furniture and mirrored wall paneling were custom designed to reflect the nostalgic periods of Deco and Victoriana. Modern antique touches such as the clear acrylic, Louis chairs combined with English chintz, floral patterned cushions to convey a very decorative element within this interior.
