What is the ‘big (IDEA)’ behind this project?
The Wonga Beach house sought to redefine the luxury retreat. An abstract composition of concrete block blade walls set in a tropical landscape defines two separate pavilions linked by a common entrance, garden courtyard and breezeway. The sumptuous interior juxtaposes raw, large scale construction, reflecting the untamed surrounds, with touches of quality furniture and artwork in key spaces. The single skin concrete block walls with expressed steel portal cyclone bracing, locally sourced cladding, single pitch roof, and elevated, louvred eastern façade all reflect the needs of build ability.
