What is the ‘big (IDEA)’ behind this project?
The Salvation Army’s new headquarters reflects their vitality, community engagement and tradition. The Army’s timeline is transcribed into the space through glazing film, as are the Victorian Otways, creating a forest surround that wraps from the walls to the ceilings. The floors are the Salvation Army colours, and the cross is thrice delicately cutout of the timber paneling and lit within. The materials represent the Army’s humbleness, honesty and provision of shelter.
