What is the ‘big (IDEA)’ behind this project?
The house has a simple plan, and a complex roof that creates a geometric silhouette floating in the expansive rural landscape. Once inside, floor to ceiling glass connects the main living space with the outdoors. The floating roof defines this space, flat but cut and folded to form skylights and create shade to the north. The plan is divided into three zones, the garage, the guest pavilion, and the main living pavilion. Planning is spare, and straightforward, with the majority of joinery rectilinear.
