Brighton Residence
What is the ‘big (IDEA)’ behind this project?
Designed as a restrained, sophisticated container, the house is arranged as a simple plan divided into two zoned pavillions. Exploring ideas of form, light and materiality, the design demonstrates a rigorous approach from formal resolution to fine detailing. In a subtle reference to the modernist glass pavilion, the structural grid is emphasised by a series of cruciform columns across the minimal façade of full height glazing contained within a concrete frame. This gesture generates extended views and a transparency that belies the mass of the house.
