What is the ‘big (IDEA)’ behind this project?
The bookchair is a superbly hand crafted piece of functional furniture, as well as being a piece of sculpture. The work has an inherent suspense as the viewer tries to fathom its ultimate use. What appears to be an impossible task, selecting a book from a stack, is on closer inspection a simple process. Any title can be removed or replaced with ease, or more books added. The larger the stack the more the bookchair presents as sculpture.
