What is the ‘big (IDEA)’ behind this project?
Avenel House is a warm, sustainable home, connected internally and externally to the dramatic landscape. Strathbogie granite, quarried from the site itself, creates a warm and tactile backdrop in several rooms and its inherent colours determined the palette of autumnal colours, with rich timber stains. Linear design elements in the living area, including the lights, concrete hearth, joinery and stone blocks, draw the eye to the exterior views. While the long recycled timber louvers on the east and west elevations impress on the interiors.
