What is the ‘big (IDEA)’ behind this project?
To produce an iconic yet unusual renovation to a five-floor office. A lively atmosphere is created at the entrance with the unceremonious crossing of employee, client and guest paths, emphasised by artwork, books and fresh coffee. ‘Carved’ from a solid block of timber, the lobby extends to the building perimeter (a play on the client’s logo). Simple and honest materials of grey limestone, rift oak panelling and paper shaded floor lamps accentuate the human activity and provide a sophisticated yet informal office.
