What is the ‘big (IDEA)’ behind this project?
To transform and revitalise an outdated, drab and congested library in the sub-basement of Selbourne Chambers Building in Phillip Street, Sydney. Engagement, connection and simplicity are key words in the design intent. Removal of solid walls around the lift lobby opened up the space and the new circular library entrance created a distinct focal point. The proud heritage of the Bar Association is reflected by the use of traditional materials in a modern way.
