What is the ‘big (IDEA)’ behind this project?
To convey the essence of Afro Funk’s product – vintage fashion – without having to see it up close. Afro Funk evokes a 70s apartment, employing a copper-topped 70s cocktail bar as the cash desk, and original wallpaper from the decade. Zoned to imply various rooms and a ‘backyard’ changing area, the store uses bands of colour and pattern to guide the customer around. The bronze-mirrored backdrop and ceiling open up the store visually and play with the colours and patterns of the other finishes. The joinery and Tretford goat hair rug were custom designed to tie all the elements together.
