The client’s artwork is a fundamental part of the project and is showcased by crisp white walls and timber floors. Developing and detailing the elements of the design in order to achieve a seamless, integrated and complementary contemporary interior was paramount. Removing some of the fussy period details, introducing symmetry and opening up interior spaces all create a calm,light shell that draws attention away from the weak points—lack of natural light and a tight, long corridor. Stimulating layers of colour and texture are added through the surfaces, materials and the collection of furniture, curated to equal the collection of artwork.
