Refurbishment of a building such as 31 Queen Street must renew commercial viability and asset value by ensuring future occupancy. Externally, the installation of a sculptural canopy provides the building with a new identity. Designed in association with Dan Templeman, the pure abstraction form flows yet “critiques” the geometry of the existing building. Internally, a folding wall of Corian and internally-lit perforated metal panels surround and reinvigorate the core. The wall punches out into the street, creating impact and providing connection to the outside.
