The Westpac Business Banking design became an extended manifestation of the client’s values. Westpac prides itself on its history, as the first bank in Australia, while also embracing the rapid changes of the modern era. Geyer steered Westpac toward a functional, contemporary design solution that is faithful to the building’s heritage, harmoniously showcasing two ends of the design spectrum. This solution exhibits inferences of both the old and the new, evoking a sense of fun and curiosity for the users. For example, the pendant light fittings are made from a material associated with the old, polished copper, but take a simple modern form.
