The design consists of a new contemporary pavilion structured in steel and clad in colorbond paneling of dark steel colour, juxtaposed against the Federation architecture of the original house. A small linking pavilion separates the original pitched tiled roof from the contemporary sawtooth roof of the addition. The transition zone, accommodating a Study/Library, Guest Bathroom and Laundry, is flooded with light via full height glass windows on either side. Light also streams into the addition, owing to the sawtooth roof form, with louvres providing shading. The south rear wall of the house can be opened to the garden via aluminium framed bifolding doors.
