Match, a boutique property development company, requested a contemporary interior within a heritage listed office, formerly the headquarters of tobacco providers. The design team chose to accentuate the architectural features of the building, in particular the original structural columns, while incorporating modern materials. To limit construction and impact on the perimeter walls while replicating early 20th century commercial office design, low height jarrah and obscured glass cubicles were inserted, utilising the Herman Miller ‘My Studio’ Office. Ceiling heights of 3.6 metres and double hung sash windows to the perimeter, demanded a sensitive approach to proportion, use of natural light and detailing.
