What is the ‘big (IDEA)’ behind this project?
Using cutting edge surfboard manufacturing techniques I wanted to create a large piece of bark to relax in. I wanted it to float in water and sit on land, to be used inside and out. I wanted it to be stackable and light. Fabric is used to create interesting graphics on the surface and this can be easily changed during manufacture. Bark chaise weighs 3.4kg, 10mm thick, strong, stackable and it floats in the pool!

What is the ‘big (IDEA)’ behind this project?
The Swell Stool/side table is the latest addition to korban/flaubert’s vibrant polyethylene product family. The super shiny swell form was inspired by plant growth and liquid dynamics. The effect of gravity on liquid helped to evolve the Swell Stool’s expressive yet simple form. Tooling for the Swell Stool matches new machine tooling technology with rotomoulding: the stayer in the plastics industry. The Swell Stool is durable and available in a wide range of colours. Korban/flaubert designed, tooled and produce the Swell Stool in Sydney

What is the ‘big (IDEA)’ behind this project?
The Onya table connects design, innovation and sustainability. The system incorporates low, embodied energy materials such as sustainably harvested ply and Eveneer (environmentally produced and reconstructed veneers, free of formaldehydes). The construction method is free of glues and screws to allow simple assembly and disassembly, or alternatively this elegant design allows for easy refurbishment, extending the life of the product. The table packs flat for transportation, saving further energy costs and making it even easier to take home.
