Transport and packaging – how is it transported and packaged?
The Sign Stool 450 is packaged using biodegradable eco-bubble or discarded bubble wrap sourced from Reverse Garbage. This piece is stackable and takes up little space in transport. For local delivery, the Sign Stool 450 is couriered without boxing, but when boxing is necessary non-bleached cardboard boxes are used.

Incorporated standard and compact fluorescent lighting throughout. Two concealed storage rooms have independent motion sensors installed to switch lighting on and off, with lighting only being used when the space is occupied and the entire lighting system is controlled by an automated timer.

Passive solar shading – the core has been located on the west, solar heat gain is minimised through passive solar shading including 1200-millimetre-deep slatted sunshades to the east and west façades. The north façade has a double sunshade to each floor.

The installation of UV resistant window coverings minimises the impact of external solar light and promotes filtered light. Sheer and blackout blinds are provided in all apartments to control thermal variability and avoid the excessive use of heating and cooling systems. The kitchen was strategically located away from direct light for optimal energy performance, filtered views and overall indoor environmental quality.

Materials – what criteria did you use to source materials?
Solid timber used carries the EcoSelect label. Chain of Custody Certification and delivery invoices from timber suppliers confirming sustainable timber is used. Jardan has a standing arrangement that only AFS certified timbers are to be used and independent evidence of this has been made available to GECA.
