Tierney Watson House
The three-storey house with harbour views was limited to a ‘traditional’ cottage scale at the front, but flows freely in a relaxed, resort style at the rear. The client requested a mid-century ‘Palm Springs’ design (which essentially consists of modernist construction methods overlaid with playful decoration). The strict minimalist lines demanded strong detail, and the minimal palette of clean, precise finishes and materials bestows dignity and purity. The echoing of architectural elements in the decoration, which is placed with careful thought, presents consistency.
