An old tired pub was converted into a restaurant combining Japanese cuisine alongside traditional sake. The characteristic of Japanese food, as represented by Sashimi, is the transformation of quality raw material to culinary art. In a similar vein, the interior utilises the versatility of timber – as both structure and finish. A lightbox at the centre of the restaurant projects colourful shadows of backlit sake bottles from within, and illuminates the prominence of the raw material of timber, linking the Japanese cuisine and sake.
