Di Mase Architects accepts the very real need for urban growth and new development but encourages the adaptation and reinvigoration of existing structures as a way to limit unsustainable expansion. This warehouse refurbishment showcases the potential value in adaptive reuse. The layers of clutter built up over time were stripped back to reveal the inherent beauty of the structure and a restrained palette of materials and finishes was applied to create a comfortable and light-filled interior. The project is an opportunity to display the client’s collection of beautiful artwork; with the main upstairs space becoming part gallery and part home.
