The brief was to create a second home, a luxury beachside retreat away from the city. A sophisticated aesthetic was achieved through a monochromatic palette and re-orientation of spaces to maximise light and visual connection to the beachside setting. Black laminate edging and timber were used to highlight details in the cabinetry, built-in to increase storage in the compact apartment, and connect spaces. The contrast of dark and light drives a moody atmosphere and accentuates the light filled space.
